Salvation can’t be free because of its terrible consequences

Salvation
Some have argued that if salvation is absolutely free, without any effort on our part, then it would lead to abuse. In other words, a person could claim to believe in Jesus while holding on to his old sinful habits. Therefore it is inconceivable that God intended salvation to be this way in view of its adverse consequences. While it is true that since salvation is free it could lead to abuse, this is by no means a reason why it cannot therefore be free. Paul himself realizes the potential of grace being abused. Gal 5:13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature…(NIV) 1 Pet 2:16 Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a…

Salvation is very unsure

Salvation
Philippians 3:10-21 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; {11} If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. {12} Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. {13} Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, {14} I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus……{20} For our conversation (ie citizenship) is in heaven; from whence also we…

There is no God because God would never allow suffering

God
Who is responsible for suffering? We must first bear in mind that it is not God, but rather sin that is responsible for the suffering in the world. Before man sinned, everything was in a perfect state. Man sinned and as a result death and suffering came into the world. Romans 5:12 (NIV) Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. When sin entered the world, the evil spirits could wreck havoc in the world in terms of what we think of as “natural” disasters. Other natural disasters could also be due to man’s irresponsible action towards the environment. For example, Jesus rebuked the storm. (Mat 8:24-26 NIV)  Without warning, a furious…

Why the book of Machabees should not be part of the Bible

Composition of the Bible
In 2 Machabees, we have the reference cited by the Catholic Church to support Purgatory. 12:43 And when he had made a gathering throughout the company to the sum of two thousand drachms of silver, he sent it to Jerusalem to offer a sin offering, doing therein very well and honestly, in that he was mindful of the resurrection: 12:44 For if he had not hoped that they that were slain should have risen again, it had been superfluous and vain to pray for the dead. 12:45 And also in that he perceived that there was great favour laid up for those that died godly, it was an holy and good thought. Whereupon he made a reconciliation for the dead, that they might be delivered from sin. Protestants do not…

HOW DO I KNOW THAT GOD EXISTS?

Tough questions
I believe God exists simply by looking at the marvels of the things in the universe. We use the word cosmos to refer the universe because this word means orderly universe. The universe is indeed orderly! No one would believe that a watch would fall into place all by itself; yet many people choose to believe that the universe, which is far more intricate, came about by chance. The Bible also appeals to God’s creation as proof of His existence. (Rom 1:20 NIV)  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.Proofs that God exists

I AM A FREETHINKER OR I HAVE NOT GIVEN RELIGION MUCH THOUGHT

Tough questions
Free thinkers are people who do not think so much about religion because they are preoccupied with their earthly life. We can ask, “Do you know where you will be if your life were to end suddenly?” Share specific examples when people’s life ended abruptly when they least expected. Eg. Sept 11 World Trade Centre attacks It is important to pursue the things of life but we also need to spare some time to think of what comes after.

I’VE ALWAYS BELIEVED IN GOD OR I GO TO CHURCH REGULARLY

Tough questions
It’s good to hear that you believe in God OR It’s good to hear that you go to church regularly but do you know Jesus as your Savior? The Bible teaches that the only way to God is through Jesus. (John 14:6 NIV)  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. When we go to God through Jesus, it means that we do not rely on other things to save us. We do not rely on our own goodness. The Bible teaches that we are not saved by our good deeds. Salvation is a free gift from God given to those who put their faith entirely on Jesus Christ. (Eph 2:8-9 NIV)  For it is by grace…

TOUGH QUESTIONS AND HOW TO ANSWER THEM

Witnessing
Our responsibility (1 Pet 3:15 NIV)  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, Remember that you are not out there to win an argument. Your aim is to win the soul. If you sense that your arguments are pushing him away, then back off. There will be another chance to witness to him. Get to the root issue The best way to conquer an objection is to ask why. Do not try to second-guess his reasons for not wanting to accept the gospel. Why is Christianity the only way? All religions are the same.Won't good, moral, ethical people go to heavenI’ve always believed in God OR I go to…
